RAMADAN MUBARAK!
CILRU’s IMPACT AND IMMEDIATE NEED
Alhamdulillah it has been 7 years since we have had a full-time dedicated chaplain – our awesome Chaplain Kaiser Aslam! It has been over 5 years that we have been operating in our beautiful building on College Avenue.
IMPACT
In the last years we have:
- Provided over 7,000 individual student appointments to over 2,000 students where we offered counseling, emotional support, spiritual guidance, and procedural guidance of how to navigate personal and professional issues. Counseling is given to students and greater community members
- Provided over 500 halaqas (classes) in our building and across campus where students can learn about their faith in a space that allows them to ask questions and practice without pressure
- Held dozens of training seminars for faculty and staff on how to cater towards the needs and sensitivities of Muslim students. Rutgers refers students and cases to us as the go to resource about Islam and Muslims on campus
- Supported student organizations by providing them with consistent leadership training, guidance, and support
- Provided a place to pray on the College Ave campus (and advocated for prayer spaces on all the RU campuses)
- Provided a space for Muslim students to study, socialize, and genuinely feel like their Muslim identity is a respected part of the Rutgers experience
- Arranged Ramadan programming that includes Mon-Thurs iftars, Taraweeah prayers, and Eid prayers as well as support our students navigate with faculty and staff on how to experience the blessed month while maintaining their student lives
- Shared our experiences and expertise through regular programming with local Masajid, Islamic Centers, and organizations on supporting Muslim youth
- Taken over 100 students to umrah on our annual CILRU Umrah over winter break
RAMADAN APPEAL
We are asking for your support to continue this work and expand our services for tomorrow’s Muslim leaders – your children – our students –at Rutgers. Alhamdulillah we are blessed with over 5,000 Muslim students and we are doing what we can to support them. We urgently need to raise $75,000.
How will your donations be used?
The generosity of supporters such as yourself is crucial to our ability to meet our needs. One of the donations will fulfill our immediate goal, while ongoing monthly support is crucial to our long-term sustainability.
The donations will be used to:
- Allow for our continued services, programming, and presence on campus
- Assist in the operational expenses of our facility
- Allow for our chaplain and staff to continue to provide the necessary and free counseling sessions that they do
- Facilitate the expansion of current community programming on campus to allow students to continue to ask their questions and learn more about how to grow and maintain their spiritual identities
